Thank you Frank L for your reply and records. Yes the records are for my grandfather. I have quite a bit of information regarding his time in WW1 . I have a copy of a book he is mentioned in Lancashire's Forgotten Heroes by S. Barker and C. Boardman, it is very interesting. He was illegitimate but born in Bradford Yorkshire. The family say he fought in the Boer War but no proof. He moved to Liverpool and married my grandmother in 1914 in Licerpool occupation given was General Dealer . I think he enlisted in Liverpool because he was living there at the time. Because he was immediately given the rank of Sergeant would that mean he had previous military service ? If so there maybe a chance he did serve in Boer War and maybe in a Yorkshire Regiment ? Thank you again for taking the time out to help me it is most appreciated.
