Dave and IL,
Just purchased a print on demand copy of the book from Abebooks for £20.88 free postage. Well happy!

Hi Adrian,
Please find below a few names. I have given name, occupation followed by anything in the Remarks column on the Medal Roll.

CAPE GOVERNMENT RAILWAYS
J. STRICKLAND. DRIVER. 'working armoured trains'
W. A. GLISSON. GUARD. 'worked on armoured trains from July 1901'. Also Uitenhage TG.
W. CARLYON. DRIVER. 'working trains in theatre of war.'
W. BARBOUR. CARPENTER. 'Railway duties prevented this man from joining any corps, but he provided great assistance during military operations with column under Colonel Plumer between Bulawayo and Mafeking.'
A. FERRIER. GANGER. 'Patrolling line within zone of fire, also special services rendered upon the occasion of the attack by Boers on Fish River Station on 23/12/01 for which he was publicly presented with a silver watch with suitable inscription on the 21/03/02.'
W.WARD. ENGINE DRIVER.

And finally,

W. PUNT. RAILWAY OFFICIAL IN ELANDSLAAGTE DISTRICT.
Willem Punt, apparently a rather interesting character of the railways.

I have loads more for the IMR aswell!
I do hope I haven't bombarded you with too many names!

Any further info on these individuals would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,
Steve

Hello Mike and Steve,

I have printed the names of your chaps out and will have a look next time I am in the Archives. There are only men in the files that served with the CGR.
