Hello Kim
I will have a look over the weekend and forward what information I find.

Dave....

Ps....can you confirm that James was a farmer, married to Eva and had 4 children. I seem to remember there were birth dates of 1868, 1875 and 1880 for James Rayner. Also, another soldiers papers recorded a James William Rayner who was a Butcher by trade. I just want to know I'm researching the right man.

WW1 information is readily available on Ancestry, there is quite a lot of paper work pertaining to James on there. Not sure if you have access to it? Let me know if you require specific papers?

Enclosed is part of a homestead document, have a look at the place of birth.
I think it reads.....British.......N Ireland?...or N Zealand?..However, most of the other documents do State he was born in Wellington N Z....The Joy's of research :( :)

His death was recorded as 1943? ....James R Rayner died in Vancouver?
