Splendid djb. I was totally unaware Alexander was born outside of Belfast. This has opened more avenues to explore. I'm extremely grateful for this. Thank you .

Thank you once again djb. Your link was invaluable. It seems the Royal Irish rifles got a 'bad press' from their actions at Reddersburg which seems odd considering the heroism displayed a few years later on the Somme.
Many thanks

Wow Dave. Amazing work. thank you. Im still chuckling over his conduct in the African wars. Hilarious. Drunk on duty, forfeit of pay, awaiting charges, banged up. transferred, etc. All this from an under nourished kid who signed up and then, in the Great War he rose from Pte to Staff sergeant major and mentioned in dispatches
Im grateful for this information. Much appreciated,
Mickster

Thank you Dave. This is amazing. Alexander appeared to have a wonderful writing script. At first I thought the forms may have been completed by others on his behalf,
However different forms and completion dates are all in the same handwriting and it matches his signature although I see two different styles of 'A' in Alexander here and there.
I do hope I'm using this forum correctly but I have replied to everyone who has contributed to this thread but on revisiting the page I cannot see my replies. Please let me know should I be doing something incorrectly. I would hate that folk my think me ungrateful or just plain rude.
