De la Harpe 2 years 3 months ago #85092

I am doing research into my grandmothers family the De La Harpe's.
I came across 2 of my ancestors who appear to have fought for the boers in the first and second Boer war.
The first was Jean Charles De La Harpe and I attach the information I have on him. Does anyone have any further information on him?

The second was John Bestendig De La Harpe and I attach information about him.
I am still figuring out the searches but I did find him when I did a name search.

Jean Charles De La Harpe could not have fought for the boers in the first and second Boer war, but he may have fought the British at the Battle of Muizenberg in 1795, and/or the Battle of Blaauwberg, 1806.
From the War Museum of the Boer republics, there's some information on John Bestendig De La Harpe
He fought in the South African War 1899-1902, and was a Prisoner of War Surname DE LA HARPE Name JOHAN BESTENDIG
Age 56 Address BLACKWOOD District BETHLEHEM Where Captured FOURIESBURG
When Captured onbekend Camp Onbekend Country Onbekend Ship (To) Onbekend
POW Number 13807
He had three farms: Blackwoods and Lusthof, both in the Bethlehem district; and the largest was Caledonspoort in the Ficksburg district.

does this make sense?
Rob
The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past.

These are the men with that surname on the site:

I cannot see any applications from men of this name for the Boer War Medal, the ABO.
