THE ROYAL WELSH REGIMENTAL MUSEUM,
THE BARRACKS,
THE WATTON,
BRECON,
LD3 7EB,
WALES.

View of entrance to the museum from over the road.

Through these entrance gates to the turnstile.

My first visit for around 15 years today (22/09/2022), found the entrance fee to the museum as a very reasonable £5.
As soon as you enter the museum the amount of artefacts on display from around 400 years of the regimental history of the South Wales Borderers, Welsh Regiment and Royal Regiment of Wales can be a little overwhelming! Certainly requiring further future visits to absorb the glorious histories of these illustrious regiments.

The first display in front of you as you walk in is of the Anglo-Zulu War.

Close up of above.

Display cabinet highlighting the Anglo Boer War.

Ostrich egg depicting the Regimental Goat "Taffy" of the Welsh Regiment.

Medal group to Captain Mark Haggard, nephew of the famous author Rider Haggard.

QSA/KSA pair to 3024 Private A. Morgan of the Welsh Regiment who was present at the actions at Paardeberg and Driefontein.

Soldier's Small Book etc.

More to follow, as the limited number of images per thread dictates.

THE ANGLO ZULU WAR ROOM

This room contains all things pertaining to the AZW.

One of numerous dioramas. There is a large diorama of Rorke's Drift that takes centre stage in the centre of the room. Unfortunately, I did not get a pic!

Zulu shield and weapons.

Life size models of men from both sides of the conflict.

More uniform.

The flag that flew over Rorke's Drift.
