Hi all, just an introduction about myself and why I have joined the forum. I am carrying out research into my family history and came across my 3rd Great Grandfather Thomas Darby who served with the Worcestershire Regiment and died during the Anglo Boer War in 1902. I am hopeful I will uncover some more details about Thomas here!
Thanks, Jacob

Welcome to the Forum, Jacob.

I have just seen the second thread which makes this information superfluous,

This looks to be 3140 Private T Darby, 2nd Worcesters. He died 09 July 1902 in Bloemfontein, of disease, I believe.

He earned the Queen's South Africa Medal with clasps Cape Colony, Witttebergen and Orange Free State, and King's South Africa with the two date clasps.

There is information on the role of the Worcesters here: www.angloboerwar.com/unit-information/im...cestershire-regiment

There are no service papers available for him.

For more information you might try the Worcester newspapers for July 1902.

Best wishes
David

Hi David,
Many thanks for your information.
Just wondering where you got the sources for your information?
I will definitely research newspapers for around that time.
Thanks, Jacob

Jacob,

The medal information came from the rolls which are accessible from the National Archives.

The unit information came from Stirling's History.

Date of demise from Steve Watt.

Kind regards
David
