FREDERICK PERCY BAREHAM

Frederick was born in the first quarter of 1881 in Barnsbury, London, Middlesex. He appears to have been the youngest of the Bareham brood. His history as detailed by national census events is shown within his elder brothers biography.

Moving forward to his attestation to the Imperial Yeomanry on March 21st 1900, Frederick declared himself as 20 years and 1 month of age and a Clerk by profession, following in the footsteps of his father and Edward.
His medical examination recorded his height of 5'8"", weight 145lbs and a chest range of 34"-36".
He was of a sallow complexion, grey eyes, dark brown hair and of Roman Catholic denomination.
He was posted to South Africa on 15th April 1900, returning to the UK June 10th 1901. He served a total of 1year and 121 days with the yeomanry, chiefly as a trooper at base staff.
Next of kin was given as his father James of Rosebank, Etherow Street, Dulwich.
Frederick appears to have returned from the Boer War unscathed.
His QSA medal with five clasps as detailed earlier on in this thread.

During World War One, he enlisted with the East Surrey Regiment and was posted to France and Flanders.
He was listed as missing in action on May 8th 1917 and finally confirmed as being taken Prisoner of War at the third battle of Ypres.
For his great war service, he received the War and Victory medals.

Following his military adventures, he returned to civvies and continued in the role of Clerk at the Post Office, as shown in the 1939 Census.
He appears to have remained a confirmed bachelor as he was a single man cohabiting with his sister's Elizabeth M (71 years old and unpaid domestic duties) and Emily M (a single housekeeper aged 61) at the long time family home at 4 Etherow Street, East Dulwich.

Frederick Percy Bareham died aged 63 in Brentford in 1944.
