Hello Border
Welcome to the forum.

Is 4787 J W . Walker 3rd Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment your Grandfather?
If yes, it may be helpful if you could provide Christian names for your him.
The more details you can provide may help to assertain if army records are available for your Grandfather.

Thanks for that, looks like we have the right man. Do you have any more info? DOB, where he was born, where he lived? It may help to see if his record is available.

Have you got access to Ancestry or FMP (Find my Past)?

With reference to your Grandfather's Boer war records, I only managed to find his medal rolls. That's not to say there isn't any record of him in the 3rd Lincolnshire Regiment, I just havn't found it. However, if your Grandfather went on to serve in WW1 with the Army Service Corps? There is a record available. Posted below are a few snippets for your perusal. Let me know if this information rings a bell reference your grandad.
