The medal rolls you are looking at are the WW1 Medal index cards which do show Thomas's entry into France and his entitlement to a trio and a silver wound badge.
The medal rolls I refer to are also on Ancestry which show service before this campaign.
I think this is only included in thier "Premier" subscription not the standard one.
If you do not have this one you are unable to access certain area's

thanks coldstream for your advise I found the medal records on ancestry,any idea if I can get any service records for his time in africa , I have the enlistment records already.thanks again lemondog
