Good evening all.Have started on our family history and realised Grand father Bill had an army number and there was a note in the Family bible that he was in the Boer War. I googled Boer War 5929 and this page turned up. Maybe I will find out something about him. The note say that he was in the Kings Shropshire Light Infantry. As an Australian I have never heard of this army brigade or whatever it is called
His father was William,he was a William, he had a son William and a grand son William. I do hope someone can help. I noticed that the first post was also the Shropshire Light Infantry. Thank you aussieanne

Hi Anne, welcome to the ABW Forum. We might be able to help you find something on William if you could give us the family name to work with.

Cheers,

Mark

Anne, I can find eight W Smiths in KSLI but none of them have the number 5929. I've also checked through all the other Smiths in the KSLI and none of them have that number but some numbers are very close. Can you confirm 5929 was his number?

Cheers,

Mark
