Originally I mentioned this particular rank "erasure" (probably too kind a word for it!) under "A Yorkshire Regt. QSA" and I thought it worth illustrating:
E/W Africa, QSA no bar (both to HMS "Philomel") and 14/15 Star trio - where the recipient has attacked his designated title on all medals bar the BWM, with a file. Clearly, he felt he had good reason.
Regards
IL.

Hello Ian,
Was this the stoker you mentioned recently in another post?

Ian,

Stoker T G Lloyd? He certainly didn't like his rank!

Frank,
Yes, this is the same chap. Despite the cranky erasure, at least he kept his medals together! One of my favourite groups.

Hello Ian,
Well, I like this group, I would not be too concerned about the erasure, I'm afraid I am not really a navy man, so I have very few RN in my collection, but, their medals are very nice and they seldom let one down when it comes to research.
Registers of Seamen's Services up to 1923 are available at Kew in ADM188, anyway, I think its a really nice group, the East and West Africa is a very pleasing medal.
Kind regards Frank

Ian,

The Benin clasp on the E&W Africa makes for a lovely group and, as Frank suggests, the naming issue is slight at most.

Best wishes
David
