Welcome to this forum.

I suggest you contact Audrey Portman at [email protected] who will be able to copy SAC service papers for you. She was also involved in a project documenting the SAC a few years ago.

Regards
Brett

When I last spoke to Audrey a few days ago she mentioned that they are still busy compling the work on the SAC.

By all accounts it will feature not only a history but also write-ups on more prominent SAC members i.e those that actually did something worthy of mention.

It must be remembered that of the +/- 10 000 chaps who enlisted in their ranks the vast majority were there for only a short 3 years or even less if they purchased their discharge or transferred out to other units.

Regards

Rory

Hi Mike

I will try and get the book.
I do want to mention though that I have another book in my possession with some very interesting details about the South African Constabulary.
The book is:
"Khaki and Blue" by Lt.-Colonel R.S. Godley O.B.E.
1935, Lovat Dickson & Thompson Limited Publishers, London.

R.S. Godley was a member of the SAC.

Kind Regards

Hi Frank

You mention the TB26 and TB27 I think and that L Wentzell might have worked his way out. Could you please give me more information on this.
I have been very interested in finding out which ship he came out to South Africa on.

Audrey has been very helpful in getting me copies of his papers.

Kind Regards

TB? Sounds a bit septic! many of the Board of Trade lists have been digitized and are available on line, problems come to the fore when they are searched as they are only as good as the person who transcribed the names contained within!
