Good morning,
Have you looked in WO126/145-163 at Kew for his original attestation paper, it may have survived and might have something on it which will at least be a start.
Regards Frank

Welcome to the forum Esther!

I have looked at the medal roll for the Aberdeen TG and their QMS was called E Spence.

Listed is Lt G Van Den Bergh. There is also a Private A Van De Burgh. A note says he resigned and that the medal was reissued 26 Jan 1910 to New Bethesda, Cape Colony.

Does that help?

Best wishes
David

There is a roll for Aberdeen TG here: www.angloboerwar.com/unit-information/to...-aberdeen-town-guard

Once the pages has loaded, click on Search to display all the names or use the search box to narrow the information.
