Hi;
I have encountered a Canadian WWI attestation paper, where the man has claimed previous service in the ABW, as a member of Brabants Horse, and the Rhodesian Field Force. Can anyonce confirm if this might be the case, and if correct, can anyone confirm his medal entitlements with clasps?
I have attempted to search here for any info on the man, but as I am useless to correctly use the research facilities here, I have probably missed anything useful.
The mans` name is Clement Alfred Hall, DOB 1 Dec 1877.
Any assistance very greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
John S

Hi John

There are 24 chaps with the surname Hall on the medal rolls for Brabants Horse - sadly none of them with the permutation of initials or names that you have provided.

Rory:
Is it possible that his initials/given names were not recorded properly in Brabants Horse?
If this is the case, perhaps a person in the Rhodesian Field Force might have the same error as Brabants Horse, and be the same person I am looking for.
Alternately, perhaps his given names were recorded correctly in the Rhodesian Field Force, so hopefully, someone can check for his presence there.
He went on to serve in the CEF during WWI, and became an RSM by the mid 20`s.
I would not think it likely that he would have knowingly placed false info onto his WWI attestation papers.
Cheers,
John S.

Hi John

I went through the Brabant's as well as Rhodesian rolls with a fine tooth comb. There are no Hall's with this order of initial - not even in reverse order.

I tried with the Christian name as well but to no avail.

I'll keep looking but there are no longer any options iro the ABW.

Rory:
Thanks for the look up.
Perhaps something else might surface here- would sure like to get to the bottom of why this mans` name does not seem to appear on the rolls.
Cheers,

John,

As you say, it is unlikely he would misreport his service as there would be nothing to gain from this.

I wonder if he served in a different unit perhaps, Border Horse rather than Brabant's Horse?

Kind regards
David
