It seems rather sad that we might never know who was the last Boer veteran. I am going to ask a reporter friend if he might have friends at the Rapport newspaper, possibly they might have something in their archives?

It may be worthwhile to access the Sunday Times Archives for that period in 1982, get the names (Boer & Brit) and then check deceased estates.

Anybody with contacts/influence may be able to find out when the last "Oud-stryders pensioen"
was paid out.

Re-reading this story from 6 years ago made me marvel anew at the efforts made by Henk to get Mr Lubbe the medals he so richly deserved. Now, of course, we wonder how many WWII veterans are out there who have never claimed their medals.
