Was/is there a nominal roll available of the Cape Mounted Police, please ?

I am trying to trace a couple of relatives, I know one of the brothers went up to Southern Rhodesia, but his brothers were officers in the Cape Mounted police.

I would be so grateful for any assistance.

Best wishes
JenU

Welcome JenU.

Have a look at this page and use the search at the base of the page: www.angloboerwar.com/unit-information/so...-cape-mounted-police

There are also details for contacting Adrian, an expert on the subject.

Good luck!

Hello JenU,

Yes there is.

Let me know the names of your relatives as many attestation have also survived in Cape Town and I will see what I can do. There is no guarantee of course.

There is a list of all attestation papers on this site that I have found. It is under the thread "Unit Information"

David Wilson
I have no record but believe my Dad served in CMP after the Boer War for a brief spell. he mentioned being stationed at Wynberg .
In his spare time he was a guide taking tour groups up Table Mountain. No cable car in those days. As I am of his 2nd issue facts about his early adventures are not clear.

In my own case I am looking for 'Banning'

I would be extremely appreciative and I think uou.

Hi,

There are papers to a Fred Banning is this the man? Also there are papers to a David Wilson who joined the CP in Novemebr 1902. He would have stayed for at least 3 years as he has 2 Regimental numbers.
