I am pleased that the roll has proved useful. I have the contrary problem to yours - a Jubilee medal with the QSA missing!

Interestingly, Poss' medal was given to me by its owner, because he thought it was 'not genuine'. Only much later was the Natal Jubilee roll unearthed in the Maritzburg Archives by Jenny. Poss' medal then went from being and oddity to something special.. My recently developed passion for the Border Mounted Rifles has made it even more valued.

Have you investigated a possible connection between your Sgt C A Carbutt to Captain Thomas Munro Carbutt of Carbutt's Border Rangers, a short-lived but interesting unit during the Zulu War?
