Here’s another one.

Engraved on rim “ANDREW A. McWHAN.”

The naming on his QSA

A photograph of him inscribed on back "Myself, just prior to leaving for S.Africa"

A medical student, he served on the “administrative staff of the Scottish National Hospital” in South Africa 1900.
He qualified MB CHB from Glasgow 1906 then B.Sc. and Diploma in Public Health in 1909.
From 1911 till 1945 he was Medical Officer of Health for Berwickshire.
His WW1 service was with the 1st City of London Sanitation Company in Egypt and the Sinai Desert.
