Hello

All those Humbys will not be the same man, those who served in the Rifle Brigade, Artillery and Cape Government Railways are different men. The man who served in the SA Constabulary could be the same man - the medal rolls usually show when a man transferred from one unit to another.

Have you checked for papers on FindmyPast and Ancestry for the Rifle Brigade & RFA?

By the way - there is no Humby in the Scottish Horse, that man has a different surname, do you know what that might be? Again check for papers on FindmyPast.

What wonderful pictures, I like the first two in particular, the 17th Lancers wore this uniform for a good number of years, however, a brief look at the collar shows this photo to be an early one.
The gentleman wearing the Scottish Horse hat is a member of the SAMIF and not the Transvaal Volunteers or Imperial Yeomanry and must be wartime rather than post war, early members of this unit who joined in Scotland wore a special badge and the first Australian members normally wore a very distinctive copper badge, in fact, both badges are much rarer than mere QSA's to this unit.
