Wow Mike..!

What a stunning badge indeed. Really appreciated you sharing your collection Mike, it's a great way to learn, especially with such a visually striking badge as this.

In addition to Mike's contribution, there were the Cape Medical Staff Corps and the Natal Volunteer Medical Corps. There was also the short-lived Natal Volunteer Ambulance Corps, but it probably did not have a badge. On the other hand, the Medical Corps of the South African Constabulary did have a very handsome badge, which Mike has illustrated somewhere on this forum.
Regards
Brett.

Thank you Brett and Mike,

Lovely badge there Mike. It seems that there is some really interesting history and badges with this segment of SA units. Education is a wonderful thing and is all the more interesting when it comes from an unintended direction.

My reason for (you may have guessed) for posing the initial question was that I came across a badge on offer - SAMC title and of the early cut brass/wire loops variety. I suspected it was early but not ABW and you chaps have confirmed this but still my interest is peeked.

Cheerio,

Roy

The SAMC badge you refer to, will be a campaign made shoulder title, for either, GWSA 1914-15 or GEA 1916-18.
