Canada. Strathcona’s Horse Victorian Boer War cap badge circa 1900-01.

Good scarce bronze coroneted shield, the Arms of Lord Strathcona, bearing demi lion rampant, railroad spike crossed with a hammer and a boat with four rowers and a flag inscribed ‘NW’.

Regarding the composite MICs did they wear their company badge (as seen below) in lieu of regimental badges or in addition to them? Is the badge below a shoulder badge or for slouch hat/helmet?

The 2MI badge is a pic from ebay so may not even be accurate. MIC units are a new exploration for me.
