Good morning Brett,
Here is your man, Cox, in WO126/131, if you let me have an address, I will send you the A3 sized copy I had made.
Regards Frank

Thanks for starting this thread and showing a very unusual slouch hat badge.

I do not have photos of the SALH items in my collection but I will rectify this during the next day or two. In the meantime, I am showing the medals of a Canadian, William Joseph Cox, who served in the SALH during the Boer War. The clasps on his QSA are those of men who were in Dundonald's Mounted Brigade during the Relief of Ladysmith.

Regards
Brett

Hello Brett,
There was another William Cox in WO126/131 too, he had served in Driscoll's Scouts as 27735 Trooper, he was not on the SALH nominal roll.

Hello Mike,
Brett showed a link to this old thread in a recent post, I note that Stalwood is clearly shown in WO100/275 on the main roll as entitled to OFS and Transvaal, the supplementary section in the same volume suggests South Africa 1901 and 1902, but these have been crossed out, notwithstanding, there is also a note which shows the medal and four clasps was "re issued" in September 1904, I think, the 27th.
One therefore, assumes this is as issued!
A most interesting medal.
Regards Frank

Hi Frank,

Forgive my ignorance but this die-stamped SALH badge that you show here, would this be considered a ABW period correct badge or a post war example?

Cheerio,

Roy

Collecting/wanted ABW insignia if anyone has some spares?
