Which IY unit is the top one?

The IY badge with the rosette is the generic badge worn by all IY units on their slouch hats unless they had claim to another one.

IY units were formed from volunteers for the duration or from territorial units that were not going to be deployed in their entirety, and many did not have the finances to commission a specific badge for themselves.

The IY companies were all numbered and there were generally four in a battalion. The 25th Coy were the West Somerset Coy and were in the 7th Bn under command of Colonel Helyar. More often than not the IY wore brass IY titles on their collars.

The badge is a later badge 1902 but is still applicable.....
