Is that an Albert pattern Shako. If so, these were worn until 1877.

The rifle shown is a Pattern 1853 (third model) muzzle loading rifle calibre .577"; introduced c.1860 and replaced by the Snider breechloading conversion beginning 1867. The volunteers were equipped with the ML rifle until well into the 1870's. All of the above fits in well with previous posts.

Good Morning Everyone......

Looked through Kipling and King and could not find an exact match in the Militia and Volunteers section for the Cap Badge.....

But there were several that could have fit the bill.....

All of them went out of use in 1881.....

Mike.....

P.S. Up so early to watch Canada vs Sweden.....
