The Cape LS&GC group sold for a hammer price of £4,000 yesterday.

The Frontier Armed Mounted Police had been raised in 1855 and was re-organised in 1878 to create a regular regiment of mounted riflemen to be called the Cape Mounted Riflemen. A Bill was passed by the Cape Parliament and the new regiment was created with Colonel H G Moore VC in command.
