The two SJAB Medals sold well at DNW today.

Orderly Schofield sold for a hammer price of £650. Totals (inc VAT for UK only): £837. R16,200. Au$1,460. Can$1,390. US$1,110.

Orderly Hallas sold for a hammer price of £550. Totals (inc VAT for UK only): £708. R13,700. Au$1,230. Can$1,180. US$940.

Here is some information that I have been sent as he is not listed as far as I know...... Mike

Arthur was awarded the St. John Ambulance Brigade Medal for South Africa. There is an inscription on the edge of the medal that says, “334 PTE. A.J. MORRIS ISLE-OF-WIGHT CORPS”. He also received the Queen’s South Africa Medal with five clasps for Belfast, Natal, Transvaal, Orange Free State, and Cape Colony. There is an inscription on the edge that says, “2ND GDE: ORD: A.J. MORRIS. VAN ALEN AMERICAN HOSP.” The ribbons are still attached to the medals but they are a little frayed.

How unusual to see a SJAB Medal and a QSA named to the Van Alen hospital.
