Thank You Rory......

Sorry I should have known, just a senior moment......

How would they have a picture on Ancestry ????? I am registered with FMP and found Ancestry hard to follow maybe I should join them..... There was a long thread on another form as to which is better......

There is more often than not a wealth of information (and the odd photo) to be found under the Public Member Trees facility on Ancestry. I have both Ancestry and FMP to the disdain of my bank manager and they have their own strengths. In this instance a family member posted a photo of the medal for all to see.

On the Ancestry side you get families who post information, photographs etc. They are very often contactable and I send these people messages requesting additional information etc. often with great results.

FMP is the place to go for Soldiers Documents more especially Victorian and here, as you know, you can get the service papers for Imperial Yeomanry and Regular Army chaps dating back to the early 19th Century.

Thanks Again Rory......

I a surprised to see that a possible family member posted a photo and then allowed it to be sold..... I would have thought that if they were doing a family history this is the type of thing that would be kept........

I know I am looking for anything to both sides of my family...... (Not to seriously though)
