A most sought after medal. I am positive that there will be some spirited bidding on this lot.

A very good medal, clearly an arbitrary estimate , but that said, what would a punter eventually have to pay DNW if it was knocked down for the estimate. Lets assume that the said punter was from Australia or South Africa.

You are looking at at least another 25% on top of the hammer price Mike. That's not even taking carriage costs into consideration.

A 400 GBP medal can quickly become 550 GBP+ with all the add ons. I buy from them using a UK address and pay in GBP from my UK bank - that way you save on the postage but they add another layer of cost because you're "in the UK".

Then there's the no small matter of getting the medals back to SA....

MIke,

Rory is correct that DNW charge a commission of 24%. If you're 'in the UK' you will also pay 20% VAT on the commission.

At least you will not have to pay the 5% import duty that may be applicable, unless you're in the UK.

If this medal sold for the top estimate of 8,600 Rand, the medal would cost you 10,600.

Postage, as Rory says, is another cost on top of this.
