Provenance: Spink Anglo-Boer War Anniversary Sale, October 1999.

Colonel George Bridges was attached to the Protectorate Regiment when it was raised before the outbreak of hostilities. He was severely wounded at Mafeking during the last Boer attack of 12 May 1900.

In hindsight it is laughable that Warwick was on my list for today. I was able to submit one bid early on but then sat back and watched as it reached the heights mentioned by Ryan.
