MSM London Gazette 3 June 1918 (Egypt).

A. Peachey served during the Second Boer War with the 9th Lancers, before joining the Metropolitan Police as a Police Constable. With the outbreak of the Great War, Peachey transferred to the Military Mounted Police, advanced to Sergeant and served with them in the Egyptian theatre of war from 28 January 1915.

QSA (4) Cape Colony, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Wittebergen (2912. Pte. C. Jones. 9/Lcrs.) engraved naming;

Charles Jones was bon in Wellington, Shropshire, in 1880 and attested for the 9th Lancers on 18 November 1889. He transferred to the Army Reserve on 18 November 1896, and was recalled to the Colours on 18 January 1900, serving in South Africa during the Boer War from 10 February 1900 to 11 August 1902. He transferred to the 5th Lancers on 15 March 1902, and was discharged on 12 August 1902, after 12 years and 268 days’ service.
