I cannot make any comment on the medals without actually being able to see both the rivets and the naming, you would need to take a close look at them.
Regarding your "Mr Granger" if you believe he was Arthur Francis Grainger, moreover, he signed his name, Grainger, not Granger, all I can say is that he would have been one hundred and two years old when you were seven years old, if you seriously think they were one and the same, the way to prove, or indeed, disprove that, would be to get a copy of his death certificate from the General Register Office.
I believe Grainger had, in actual fact, already died long before and speaking for myself, even aged just seven years, I would have known if I was talking to anyone as old as one hundred and two years old.
