Good Afternoon Everyone.....

The following jiffy bag was delivered this afternoon and has brought up a few questions and I am wondering if any of the members can assist.....

It is a group of 3 medals: QSA / 1915 Star / War medal (Victory missing)

The QSA with no bars as issued is named –

235 Corporal F. RICHERDTS, WINDSORTON-WEDBERG TOWN GUARD

The WW1 medals are named: Conductor F. RICHARDS, S.A.S.C T.&R.

a) When I check FmP it shows the QSA as named above (RICHERDTS) stating that he served in the WINDSORTON-WEDBERG and the KLIPDAM Town Guards.......

b) When I check the UNIT section here I cannot find in either Town Guard under the name of RICHERDTS or RICHARDS......

Does anyone have a copy of the actual medal roll to check the spelling of the name which I think is Richards.....

Also S.A.S.C. T & R, South African Service Corps, T. & R. ???

Mike......

For Frank.... The group was fairly inexpensive so I could not pass it by.......

Thank You Adrian.....

While your reply was coming through I was googling the name Richerdts and found that there is actually a last name spelt that way so putting my Sherlock hat on I guess the name on the Town Guard roll is correct and he may have changed it to Richards which is more anglicized....... There is only one wish that the medal was named to Klipdam TG as there were only 7 or 8 of them issued to the unit......

Hi Mike,

I think your assumption is spot on.

I agree, It certainly would have been a nice if it was named to the Klip Dam TG. Oh well, still a great medal to have though.

Best Reagrds
