Was jolly fortunate to win the above earlier. Kirkcaldy's is on his own medal roll as attached with clasps Laings Nek and Transvaal. There can't have been many of his ilk.

Is the Kirkaldy QSA named to him as FID? In any case, he was one of those I "ticked off" on the Buxton roll when doing the Guide Idle FID post some time ago. Very few of that particular clasp combination to FID.

I'll have to wait until the medal arrives to confirm. The vendor posted a very vague image of the rim - it appears to have RL Kirkcaldy and then Interpreter impressed thereon

According to the Buxton index, in addition to your man, there are three others shown as "interpreters" and one "Chief Interpreter and Guide". Sounds like you have a very nice FID medal, indeed. I look forward to seeing it.
