Recently arrived from Spink, please see above images of QSA to INSPECTOR H. T. KEIGHTLEY of the I. T. S.
A different man to the INSPECTOR H. KEATLEY from another previous post on this thread.
I found that he has entitlement to the clasps CAPE COLONY, ORANGE FREE STATE and TRANSVAAL according to the medal roll for ITS.
It would appear that he had previous service with Komgha Town Guard, Albany District MT and a police unit whose first name I cannot make out. This is detailed in the remarks column alongside his name.
No trace in the Albany DMT roll, but the medal roll for Komgha TG list a H. C. Keightley. Alongside his name is a cross which signifies that he was one of ten men whose QSA was issued to the RES:MAG:KHOMGA on 05/08/09. I assume to the Resident Magistrate Komgha.
The same man? A double issue? Probably another open verdict amongst the many.....

Steve.

A very nice medal.

Looking at his roll page (WO100/216p279), I think his second unit is the Komgha Special Police.

The ITS roll clearly states on the front page 'medal only' or words to that effect. Some clasps were issued to some of the senior officers, but in the main the rank and file, despite being noted as qualifying for clasps were denied.

David,
Thank you for deciphering the unit Komgha Special Police. A new unit for me to add to the list of units my recipients served in.

Jon,
Many thanks for your comments. I am learning that some units would cross through 'yes' for no entitlement and others didn't! It all adds to the knowledge.

Cheers,
Steve

A better quality copy of the picture of the ITS. This is captioned 'Major S Weil's Imperial Transport Service with General Gatacre's Column.'

Major Weil is seated in the deck chair.

I have updated the roll of the ITS on the unit page: www.angloboerwar.com/unit-information/so...al-transport-service

This lists over 800 men who served in either Weil's or Crosbie's Transport.
