Good Morning Meurig,

Thank you for the info, I've had a look but can't find the record you mention. FmP records can be difficult to navigate! Could you possibly give me the link or point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Hello Gaz

The FmP Index for WO128 is broken and they decline to fix it. How you find papers is to:

1. A-Z of Record Sets
2. Search for "British Army Service Records Image Browse"
3. Filter on Series "WO128".
4. Then you are shown a list of the "boxes" of the papers arranged by service number, scroll through the list and select the range of service numbers and browse.

Good Morning Meurig,

thank you very much for that. Thank you for the work you have done in transcribing the info, never meant to to doubt you but I just couldn't see where people were getting "Donald" from. I've had a look and a few things don't match so it's back to the drawing board for me in locating his records!

I never knew these records existed in this way so i'm happy that I now have few leads I can chase up.

Thanks again

Gaz

Hello Gaz

No need to apologise for doubting, no resource is 100% accurate. You should question every resource you look at; how was it compiled, by whom, when, for what purpose, etc.

Would love to know the outcome of your research.

Good luck

Good Morning Gaz...….

I know of a person here that has the name on his Birth Certificate is Dougall…… Yet he goes by the name Dave..... There was also a news paper article that was written by a local reporter about yours truly and the mentioned my first name 5 times and it was spelt wrong every time and my last name 4 times and spelt wrong 3 times...… So if you are going by the news papers description they are also not 100% accurate.....

Hi Mike,

EDIT - looks like jpgs not showing- fixed!

I know what you mean, but the newspaper mention of Fincastle's Horse matches up with his WW1 records and the addresses and names in both also match, so he is definitely my guy its just that I can't actually find him in any Fincastle's Horse records!
