My grandfather Johnston Wasson ( correct spelling is Wason) served as a Trooper 3rd NSW Imperial Bushman. Other than these details I know little of him.
Should anyone be able to direct me to other sites or have any information about him I would be very grateful.

Welcome to the Forum. I had a quick look in OZ-Boer database and confirmed your GF as Wason, 3236 in 3NSWIB. Your GF was born in Sydney in 1872 (NSWBDM say Paddington in 1870). He left Australia 22/3/01 with First NSW Draft for the Citizen's Bushmen's Corps and was invalided to Australian 7/2/02.
You will find an account of 3NSWIB's background and operations in Murray's "Official Records". I think there is a group pic of NSW Draft 1 for the CBC in the Town and Country newspaper. These group pics are pretty muddy; however if your GF is in the pic - and if you are interested - I can see what I can do.

IL.

Many thanks. I am reluctant to weigh you down with my questions but I would like to know if I can obtain a copy of his personal details, service records and a photo.

You may obtain basic details of your GF's service with 3NSWIB by accessing the OZ-BOER database and exploring the links provided. Your GF's medal and clasp entitlement may be found by accessing the (UK) National Archives on the link provided on this site. I have already indicated that Murray's "Official Records" will give you a digest of the recruitment and operational activities of 3NSWIB.
Finding biographical details for many of the men of pre-Federation Australian units which served in South Africa can be a fruitless task. Frankly, one has to be lucky. It is always possible to engage the services of a researcher to try and fill in the blank spaces. Even then, often just a basic summary survives.
Good luck with your quest
Regards
IL.
