Alfred Arthur Atkins was born in Stanmore, Middlesex, and attested for the 4th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment, aged 18, on 21 October 1898 . He served in South Africa during the Boer War. Appointed Sergeant in 1901, he was disembodied on 11 June 1902. He rejoined his regiment for service during the Great War, aged 38, on 3 November 1916 and served with the 1/5th Battalion in Egypt from 3 March 1917. He was discharged Class ā€˜Zā€™ on 7 March 1919.

David Eaton Robinson was born in Lambeth, London in June 1873. He served with the Bedfordshire Regiment in India and South Africa, prior to emigrating to Canada and residing at 556 Alpha Street, Victoria, British Columbia. Robinson served as a Sergeant with No. 1 Canadian Field Ambulance, Canadian Army Medical Corps during the Great War. He died in January 1957.
