It's always gratifying to find additional information on a recipient. Orr was mentioned in a report in an Australian newspaper, the Sydney Daily Telegraph, 5 December 1899, by a Trooper who was an eye witness to the battle of Elandslaagte.

Rory,

Just posting these in case they are better copies than the ones you already have. Taken from Horace Nicholls, "Uitlanders and Colonists who fought for the Flag, 1899-1900", Johannesburg n.d. (c. 1900).

A big thank you to both David B and Neville C for these great images - a bonus was the group photo you posted Neville where, aside from Orr, standing to the right of the back row is another of my ILH men - Lt Arthur Edward Brabant.

Regards

Rory

The only object I have here that relates to your story is this shoulder title, worn by brother officer Lieutenant A.D. Shore at Elandslaagte, where he too was wounded. In the group photograph, he appears in the front row, on the far right [captioned "A.N. Shore"].
