The Norfolks that received the Talana clasp were also the only Norfolks to get Defence of Ladysmith.

Recent win at Noonans

8186 Gunner Albert Robins; was 3rd Local Ammunition Column at the DoL. 9th, later 11th Field Battery in India.

Natal Field Force
Born in the spring of 1887 at Church Road, Girtford, Sandy
The son of Frederick CHESHER, a boot maker (1844–20th January 1909) & Mary Ann CHESHER nee ASHLEY (1844–21st April 1925)
Brother to Frederick J (1866) Lucy Chesher (1867), Eben (1869), Harry (1870).
Alfred (1873 ),Lilla Chesher (1874), Evline (1880) George (1882), Louisa (1884),
Edgar S (1887) & Florie J B (1889)
In 1891 a 13 year old schoolboy living with his parents and siblings at Church Road, Girtford.
Died of enteric fever on 25th February 1900 during the siege of Ladysmith, Natal.
Age 23
Also remembered on the grave of his parents at Foster Hill Road Cemetery, Bedford and
The Royal Engineer Boer War Memorial Arch, Brompton Barracks, Chatham Kent

Born late autumn 1871 in Amptill, Bedfordshire, the son of Harry STANRIDGE (1845-1909) a bricklayer & Sarah STANBRIDGE nee TOMKINS.(1851-1922)
Married Harriet PRESSLEY (1870-1938) in Bedford 14th May 1899
Father to Henry STANRIDGE (1900-1986)
Enlisted 24th October 1899, a bricklayer’s labourer.
Died of dysentery at Ladysmith on 6th April 1900.

WARNER Alfred Ernest

Queen’s South Africa Medal ~ Defence of Ladysmith clasp
Born in spring 1880 in Luton, Bedfordshire, the son of Alfred WARNER, a straw hat blocker & Susan WARNER nee HALSEY of Luton.
In 1891 a 10 year old scholar living with his parents and two sisters at 121 Russell Street, Luton.
Died of enteric fever at Ladysmith on 16th Jan 1900.
Also remembered on his parents grave at St Nicholas Churchyard Harpenden, Hertfordshire, England

WHEATLEY Frederick

Born in the winter of 1872 at Upper Caldecote, Bedfordshire, the son of William WHEATLEY,(1842-1927) an agricultural labourer & Mary Ann WHEATLEY nee INSKIP (1844 - 1914) of Upper Caldecote
In 1891 an 18 year old agricultural labourer living with his parents and four siblings at High Street, Upper Caldecote.
Died of of enteric fever on 24th December 1899 at Ladysmith
