Hi Steve,
Steinaecker’s was definitely an interesting unit. I wonder what story those who had no previous service spun to be accepted into the unit. I don’t recall anything in Bill W’s book about recruit training. If they could ride, shoot, navigate and be capable of following an order I suppose they were recruited.
I am intending to check the medal roll for those who served in Steinaecker’s only and note the medals ‘returned’.
