David,

Many thanks for the information, lucky we have the OR Scouts attestation papers to refer to.

Pleased to pick up the medal, as you don't often see QSAs to Scott's RG on the market too often.

Cheers,

Steve

Steve,

Indeed. I looked for him on FamilySearch but was unable to find any trace of him, even with his birth date and unusual surname.

Here is a photograph of Lt Watters and men of Scott's Railway Guards, manning H.M. Armoured Train "Bakhatla" (taken in early 1901).

I have inherited a medal of 671 Trp A Garden Scott’s Railway Guards Queen Victoria with 4 bars Cape Colony, Transvaal, South Africa 1901 and 1902.
Also Edward VII 1906 Natal Umvoti Mounted Rifles
Furthermore also WWI George V Bravery in the Field 40133 Sjt A Garden Cameron Highlanders and 4082 Sjt A Garden Cameron Highlanders medals.
I would like to know if your records have any further information about my relative A Garden. I think I have his birth family from Ancestry and I believe he survived WWI and maybe continued to reside in Johannesburg
I also note that the medal restoration site is now closed but any recommendations of other similar sites would be welcome. I reside in Edinburgh
Thank you

Welcome!
If you search by unit www.angloboerwar.com/unit-information/so...cotts-railway-guards the Scott's Railway Guards medal roll strangely does not include him. If you search by name www.angloboerwar.com/name-search he is shown on the Natal 1906 roll in the Umvoti MR.
Can I suggest you post photos of the QSA medal showing the naming around the rim?
Rob
The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past.
