Hello and Good Morning David......

No I have not seen that type of naming and cannot find him listed anywhere......

1st C.M.R. Contingent Medals were named: THE CANDN: M.R.
2nd C.M.R. Contingent Medals were named: CANADIAN M.R.

There is a record of one medal, a late issue, 1912, to 2nd Contingent is named with just C.M.R.

I also checked the Canadian Scouts roll just in case......

Thank you for checking, Mike.

I cannot find him at all on the rolls.

There are some men of this name on the Canadian Archives but no one with these initials.

Is is difficult to see from this image but the flange could be narrower between 5 o'clock and 8 o'clock?

Concur David, it does look like the area where the unit would be has been renamed.......

I am in the process of transcribing the Minto Papers, letters between the Governor General and Major General Hutton written during the war and he was in command of the CMR......

That sounds an excellent endeavour, Mike,

I cannot find any other suitable recipient on the rolls. This is very intriguing/frustrating.
