Smethwick,
That is a new one for me too! I did not know that such a badge was distributed to these men of the Imperial Yeomanry.
I have always referred to the brass slouch hat badge as being "Bob's badge". Also, have seen a sterling silver example with a pin fastener.
The latter version being the subject of some debate as to whether the silver ones were worn by the original thirty- odd colonials who formed a bodyguard for Lord Roberts or were perhaps sweetheart badges.
I will try and rediscover the online article regarding the silver badge and post a photo/link here for those interested. I do not have a silver version in my collection, unfortunately missing one on a dealer's website three years ago!

STERLING SILVER COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF'S BODYGUARD BADGE.

Taken from the NZ History website.

Does anyone on the forum have one of these rarities in their collection?

Another extant example of this version of "Bobs Badge"

According to newspapers of the day when the Bodyguard was first raised it consisted of 40 Colonials and presumably as the above badge is dated 1900 only 40 were made. Presumably yet another Bodyguard Badge was made when it was expanded in numbers as described in the first link and was in effect Kitcheners Bodyguard. The 48th Company IY were officially "Lord Roberts Escort" but they were also described as a bodyguard especially by members of the 48th.
