Volunteer - you have "blown" my cover :lol:

Those are the very papers I was going to base my article on and, in the process, agree with other sentiments expressed here, those being that Duffy (J or P) was in fact WIA and not KIA as per the various casualty rolls.

It all fits - he was discharged "time expired" 23 August 1901 and was part of the 5th Battalion - both these tally nicely with the medal rolls for 1908 P Duffy where he is discharged "time expired" and returned to the 5th battalion.

Furthermore, there are the newspaper reports of the time - here's one from the Army and Navy press of 8 September 1900 - which clearly provide the Inniskilling casualties as wounded.
