According to his discharge papers 32451 Wilfred Shepherd served in the 111th company, 3rd Battalion IY:

He was also disingenuous regarding his age when he attested on 25 February 1901 as he was born on 29 June 1883 making him 4 months shy of his 18th birthday at the time.

By the time of the 1911 Census he had married and his first of three children had arrived. He had found employment as a police officer and on the 1939 Register, which gave his DoB, he is described as a "retired police officer". I don't think he served in the Great War although some people on Ancestry think he did but the supporting paperwork is for another Wilfred Shepherd born in a different part of Sheffield.

You will also note he was a true red head unlike the one writing this post, Regards David Redhead.
