Lol Mike. Did you bid? My bid was only R56,000 so you may have a chance. I suspect it went for more as the reserve was R50,000. But that, with fees, equates to GBP3,700 and you can buy a lot of other medals for that.

The Canadian Scouts though were not a Canadian unit...

No sorry did not bid.....

Saving my money right now for the purchase of a Long Lee, a Boer Mauser, a Boer Martini and a Mk.VI Webley...... Also since the DCM was won while a member of Robert's Horse and not the Scouts I decided to let it pass..... The number 36817 by the way was his Canadian Scout number..... Also he was an Australian.....

Morning

My source in the room last night informed me that the DCM group sold for a hammer price of R52000.

Hello Mike,
I really would not be at all concerned if I were you, this is far from the best saleroom, it does have a must unusual feature, in that it is not always the highest bidder who actually wins a particular lot, allegedly, enough said!
Regards Frank

Whatever Frank! I bid the highest and I won the lot. Also beware of making comments about a company online, as it is the owner of the forum who gets into trouble.

I should have stated that "Saving my money right now for the purchase of a Long Lee, a Boer Mauser, a Boer Martini and a Mk.VI Webley......" are all coming from a large Boer War & Civil War collection of weapons that is being broken up.....
