May be true Brett, but how do you tell? I still haven't managed to find Henk's LG reference. But generally I have never seen DCM's listed specifically for actions. If there was a way to identify them as such, or rule them out, it would be great. Cheers, Ryan

As you probably know, the brave deed that earned Cpl Weir the DCM was described in Gibson's history of the ILH. In spite of all the other actions he described, that was the only one mentioned that is linked to a DCM. Perhaps the powers-that-were decided that one VC and one DCM were sufficient reward for the other ranks of the ILH.

Good Morning Everyone......

Sold on ebay last night, bid on it but did not win.......

Group of 4:

3 Bar India General Service, 1854 - Bars Hazara 1888, Chin Lushai 1889-90 and Lushai 1889-92

Q.S.A. Single Bar - Defence of Ladysmith

A.G.S. Single Bar - Somaliland 1902-04

Trophy of Arms Long Service and Good Conduct

The seller did not say what regiment he served in but just listed him as "A. KNOX"

Would have been an interesting group to research......

Mike,

One contender is Sub Conductor A Know of the S&T Corps, Bengal Command. He has QSA (1) DoL.

Mike,

It was probably this man as I don't think any of the other A Knox served in Ladysmith given their units and his prior service.

Interesting David.......

I am going to have to wait for the groups that I was lucky enough to purchase and see what exactly is written on them......

The seller would only list the WW1 medals especially Canadian and gave no information on the QSA's attached even though he was sent an email......

One group that I purchased in his CEF documents states his previous service was 12 Years Service with Madras Fusiliers.....
