Liverpool Medals are advertising a single O'Okiep medal named to P. Voss.”]

Also served as 744 Pte P. Voss, Namaqualand Town Guard.

Liverpool medals say":

Confirmed on the Q.S.A. roll and shown as “Engaged with the enemy at O’okiep” However his entry is crossed through as he was not noted as “White” and “Coloured” members were unjustly disqualified from earning the Queen’s South Africa Medal, however he was still issued this unofficial medal locally as a recognition for his services, making this his sole entitlement.

A very rare and interesting medal awarded to those who took up arms to defend the town during the Siege of O’okiep.

£2,495

Hi there. Daniel Cruywagen was my great grandfather. I know that he earned a medal for the relief of O'Kiep and that he was part of the Namaqualand Border Scouts. My brother has another medal that he was awarded in WW1 I think. Any idea of the whereabouts of this medal? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Jane,

The medal was sold by auctioneers, City Coins, in Cape Town. If you email them, they may be able to forward your message to the buyer at that auction. It has not been recorded on the market since (at least as far as I can see).

Good luck!

Hi Dr Biggins

Thanks for your reply. I did contact City Auctions and this was the reply:
Dear Mr Cruywagen

I am sorry but could not find the sale of the medal of your great grandfather.

Could you ask your sister for more information, i.e. where did she find the information that we sold the medal, number of sale, date.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Ruth

So my question is this. Where can I find the above info that they need? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have a pic of this specific medal? I would like to see the engravings. It would mean a lot to me.
