Very many thanks Rory. I have also now perused your amazing write-up on Major John Griffin Maynard which you posted about 6 months ago and before I became interested in Herbert. Further poking about has unearthed a 1920 letter written by Lily which explains the move to the USA of not only Isabel & Ethel but even more so Lily herself. Will post it shortly, plus some other material, under your write-up on the (ungazetted) Major.
